The top of My courses shows the last known Canvas collection, the last fully confirmed notebook sync for one of your courses and files with a Canvas change or, without a Canvas time, a download in the last 24 hours. This does not guarantee that every course is up to date. View synchronisation opens the combined list; the same link appears on every course page.
Each Canvas file has two steps. Canvas → StudieSync shows Fetched to StudieSync: the server download time, from the actual file’s modification time (mtime) in the read-only course folder. The pipeline writes a file only for a new or changed download. Mtime therefore means download time, not upload time in Canvas. A missing, unreadable or ambiguous file gives Unknown. On Canvas uses only Canvas edit/creation metadata and may remain Unknown even when download time is known.
StudieSync → notebook/Drive describes the last confirmation that the source exists in your own notebook, or why it cannot be confirmed. Notebook time is a report confirmation, not necessarily first upload. When Drive is enabled, your own historical Drive receipt appears in the same step; unknown Drive status does not prove a missing file. The owner’s Google status is never used.
A file may be on the server but absent from the notebook because Chrome is closed, the computer is asleep, the hourly check is pending, Google login or source space is missing, or Google is still processing a source. Video without a transcript and file types not downloaded yet are not fixed by repeated clicks. Read the module explanation and select Sync now in open Chrome after resolving the issue.
Last 24 hours, Last week and Last month are rolling intervals of 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. Filter time is the first valid Canvas edit time, otherwise Canvas creation time, otherwise the server file’s download time (mtime). Each file’s disclosure details state Time filter: Canvas or Time filter: download. An old Canvas date takes priority over a newer download. A file without Canvas time can therefore count as recently downloaded without claiming it was just uploaded to Canvas. All also includes files with neither time, shown last. The newest filter time appears first. The first 20 rows appear; Show more adds 20. Changing the filter resets the expanded view.
The summary shows files in the last 24 hours under the same time rule, confirmed files and the known Canvas-file total across courses; visible rows follow your filter. Missing inventory is marked Unknown. N of M on course cards counts sources: a weekly bundle can contain many listed files and the study plan is also a source. These are different counts.
On Synchronisation, the course page and New since last time, the main name is the Canvas module item’s title, such as Reading.pdf. Below it are the week and individual file/weekly bundle, plus the original filename when different. Without a documented source location, we invent no week or source type. The arrow disclosure shows the full notebook source name, including its technical number and revision; those codes are never the displayed filename. This does not mean the file was uploaded multiple times. Selecting the filename in Synchronisation opens its one full row in the course module. When no module is known, the module overview opens; no location is fabricated.
